Welcome to Picadilly & Company

Picadilly & Company, creating home decor knick knacks one party at a time. We provide you and your guests a fun evening creating a home decor items while in your home. It's a great venue for a Girls Night Out, family get together, etc. However, before we can create them in your home, I create them for my home. And there are some things I do, that I just cannot bring to someone's home. So, check out what I'm working on, maybe it will inspire you. To visit the company website, go to http://www.picadillyandcompany.com/
Currently I am preparing for our holiday homes tour. I will begin decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. In the meantime I am creating different projects to decorate with. So, the ideas I am sharing do not show the final stage often due to that. In December I will post pictures of the final outcome. Thanks for stopping by. And please, check out the website above!

The Old Rugged Cross

So I have to admit, in youth group, years ago. . .I really didn't enjoy singing hymns. But, my pastor was a wise man. And now, I have to admit, I sort of miss them. In a previous post "I Heart My Husband Too" I showed you how I made a simple base using 2" boards of wood in various widths. I had one section left over and decided to using a page from a hymnal with it. I stained the wood the same, with water soluable stain, walnut color. I then decoupaged a page from a hymnal "Crown Him With Many Crowns". I spread stain all over it too. But I used a gel stain so I could wipe it down.
Once that was dry, I used wood glue to adhere a wooden cross on top.

A Pewter Post

I purchased 3 pewter plates last fall. At the thrift store for $1.79 each! I love them. I have two under cloches. The remaining one was mistakenly forgotten above the 'fridge. As a quick little project I simply typed out a message on my Cricut using vinyl and I was done. I think this would be just as cute with white plates using vinyl too. I have seen it with three plates putting a date or address on them. Or creating a silhouette of some sort. I put this one right by the American flag I made with some friends last summer.

I Heart My Husband Too!

I found this idea on Pinterest. I think it is cute.
This original idea was created using scrapbook paper decoupaged onto an artist canvas. I prefer the real thing, so decided to duplicate it using planks of wood. Using 2" x 2", 2" x 3", and a 2" x 4", I wood glue the sides of them all together. We clamped them and let the glue dry for 24 hours.
Once done, I cut the wood planks down to 10" height. Next, I stained the wood a walnut stain using a water soluable stain. It dries super fast. Which I like. I then painted our initials and heart. I created the "&" symbol using my Cricut.
Using these same wood planks I created another craft that I will share in the next post.

I Heart Burlap

Wow! It has been awhile since I posted. Getting in the swing of routine again after the holidays took some time. I have done a few simple crafts lately and thought I'd share them with ya the next few days. I have developed a love for burlap as have others in the Pinterest and blog land. My sister-in-law called and said she had boxes of craft stuff if I wanted it. It was a hard decision...YES!
In it I found a wire frame heart. I decided to make a simple burlap heart wreath for Valentine's Day with it. I have this burlap ribbon from Michaels. And I have a few keys from Michaels too. So, I decided to tie them all together.
I simply weaved the burlap in and out of the wire frame. I then made the tag "You have the key to my heart," and hung it from the heart. Quite simple but cute none-the-less.
