Welcome to Picadilly & Company

Picadilly & Company, creating home decor knick knacks one party at a time. We provide you and your guests a fun evening creating a home decor items while in your home. It's a great venue for a Girls Night Out, family get together, etc. However, before we can create them in your home, I create them for my home. And there are some things I do, that I just cannot bring to someone's home. So, check out what I'm working on, maybe it will inspire you. To visit the company website, go to http://www.picadillyandcompany.com/
Currently I am preparing for our holiday homes tour. I will begin decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. In the meantime I am creating different projects to decorate with. So, the ideas I am sharing do not show the final stage often due to that. In December I will post pictures of the final outcome. Thanks for stopping by. And please, check out the website above!

Welcoming in the Fall Harvest

I love decorating my porch for fall. I'll keep it simple, but thought I'd show you how I created two items. First, the harvest banner above the front door. And second, the pumpkin topiary.

The Harvest Banner
Working with burlap is fun and affordable with a lot of options.
To create this banner I first created a triangle template with a parallelogram top to be able to hand the pendant on the cording. I then cut each triangle out of the burlap.

Once cut, I folded over the top of each pendant and pressed it down.

To create a stencil for the lettering, I first printed off my letters using Times New Romans font. I then cut each letter out of freezer paper and ironed them onto the burlap pendants. I use the cotton/linen setting on my iron.

Once the freezer paper is ironed onto the burlap, you simply paint each letter. Once the paint is dry, which doesn't take long for acrylic paint, peel the freezer paper off of the burlap.

I then sewed each pendant onto some really cool felt ribbon that I had stashed away. I have no idea where it came from. When I sewed each pendant I went around the circumference of each pendant with a straight stitch to limit the fraying of the burlap.

Once done I simply hung it over the door, high enough some my 6'3" husband wouldn't hit it.
